El Salvador made a significant impression at the 13th Smart Cities Summit held in Shenzhen, China, establishing itself as a leader in sustainable urban development. Represented by Santiago Caprio, a smart cities expert and advisor to UN-Habitat, the country showcased its progress under President Nayib Bukele’s leadership toward creating people-centered smart cities.
In his presentation, Caprio emphasized El Salvador’s focus on connecting human needs with sustainable technological solutions, driving an urban revolution rooted in innovation, renewable energy, and enhanced quality of life. The event not only highlighted El Salvador as a pioneer in Central America but also reaffirmed its commitment to international cooperation, sharing its urban transformation model, and paving the way for strategic alliances across the region and beyond.
